Oh. Only looked at the linked messages after my reply.
But in THIS case, there is a References: CAFHV...
to the Message-Id of the other post.

So there, pipermail *correctly* classified it into the same thread, the
one who posted the second message *in*correctly referenced the other one.

The rest is still true, though:
