Now, there have been some performance improvements in recent kernels, so you might want to upgrade to a, say, 2.6.35+ kernel. But expect at best a slight improvement, not a latency drop by an order of magnitude. If 70µs is really too high for your needs, then you can consider switching to InfiniBand or Dolphin Express, which DRBD equally supports. Hope this helps.
