You could look at the resources/OCF/drbd.in OCF Resource Agent script in
the heartbeat CVS repository for 1.99.x - it's not done yet, but it does
a lot of this monitoring work and uses various of the new features in
1.99.x / 2.0 already.

With heartbeat 2.x so close to release, it's probably not the most
efficient way to write your own, but instead I personally would suggest
to help out with heartbeat development, testing, documentation etc.
There's work for every skill from scripts over docs, bug filing and
testing to C for intermediate and up.
