[Csync2] What makes the difference on which host I run?

Dumb user question:

Today I made the plan to update single hosts with this command:

    csync2 -xv -G groupX -P hostX

As lazy and demanding as I am, I naturally thought it would not matter
on which host I run this command. But I found out that it only worked
on the left host according to my "auto left" conflict resolution.

I think, I need a coaching lesson on the mechanics involved in this:
is there supposed to be a difference depending on which host I run my
commands on? For all commands? Only for certain commands?

I'm still running 1.26 in case this matters, but I will upgrade
tonight.
