Well, looks like I was wrong.
It does use some functions not present in <= 2.10 (or so).

Consider to just disable ssl support:
./configure  --prefix=/usr --localstatedir=/var --sysconfdir=/etc --disable-gnutls

Or, well, "fix it", and send a patch ;-)
