But doing that is a bad, hackish idea. There is a mechanism to have a
.ko shipped and one as update. And tools have to load the one in
updates.

I have not seen a problem after the dkms was installed on reboot time.
Is it in a .conf in /etc/modules-load.d/ ? Put it there and see if that
helps. Anybody else that could reproduce that?
