don't. There can be only pain in meddling with your backing devices.

Never, unless you run a verify.

When you "accidentally" trash a backing device, it's advisable to
schedule a full resync, although the results should be the same.

I'd be interested to learn about the differences between a resync and a
verify in this scenario. You know, for science ;-)
