I suggest you trawl the mailing list archives.

There are proponents of the idea of dedicated switches for DRBD.
Personally, I've had good mileage with crossover cables.

Dedicated NICs should be considered mandatory.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to substitute "dedicated switches" with
"dedicated VLANs in general switches" (but then, I'm not in favor of
switching replication links to begin with ;-)
