Well, the reason might be that you won't be able to have a drbd "under" a VMFS.....VMFS is VMware's filesystem on an ESX host. Not possible to have it on a Linux host. Even if you use a Linux box with drbd and present it as NFS to the ESX hosts- it won't be VMFS as it's accessed through through NFS.
