Hi! We had a very similar issue under SLES 11 SP1 with the LVM RA timing out under IO-load. A vgscan took more than 35 seconds unterh that condition instead of the usual 0.04. It is fixed with the newest released packages from Novell, when the filter of LVM only looks for /dev/drbd*. During debugging the problem we also were advised that it makes no sense at all to monitor a volume group once it started successfully. We do not use LVM as backing device for DRBD any more, so this scenario has not been tested.
