Mmm, odd. I read in a couple of posts balance-rr is the best mode for direct 
connections (as I'm using them, i.e. without switch). 

I did do some test with a HP Procurve 1810s switch though (enabled trunking on 
every pair of ports) but this actually resulted in even lower values.
