Hi, thanks to drbd #irc i was pointed to Ubuntu bug 246324, which is about lvm.conf not copied into the initial ram disk. https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/drbd8/+bug/246324 Fixing this and regenerating the initrd makes drbd fly even on boot up.
