So, it turns out that I misunderstood the options for the device directive. According to http://www.drbd.org/fileadmin/drbd/doc/8.0.2/en/drbd.conf.html the DRBD device names are expected to be /dev/drbdX, and can't be arbitrary strings. -- Joseph Lamoree
