Hi Lars and thank for your quick answer, i had a little look at the kernel Changelog and i saw they changed sg_set_page, suggestin use of sg_assign_page.I went to drbd/drbd_worker.c changin sg_set_page to sg_assign_page and it compiles without problems. So i solved the oops usin the rc2... BUT, even switching to new kernel my problems remains the same... I have tested latest drbd/kernel with CORE2/QUAD processors and i'm in deep troubles, syncer get stuck at 20mb/s with incredible high await/iowait times: [root at nas1 queue]# iostat -x -m 1 Linux 2.6.24-rc2 (nas1) 11/07/2007 avg-cpu: %user %nice %system %iowait %idle 0.91 0.00 15.31 80.57 3.21 Device: rrqm/s wrqm/s r/s w/s rsec/s wsec/s rMB/s wMB/s avgrq-sz avgqu-sz await svctm %util cciss/c0d0 17.29 159.88 3.60 439.73 196.30 37779.44 0.10 18.45 85.66 149.82 333.80 2.22 98.44 avg-cpu: %user %nice %system %iowait %idle 0.00 0.00 4.00 96.00 0.00 Device: rrqm/s wrqm/s r/s w/s rsec/s wsec/s rMB/s wMB/s avgrq-sz avgqu-sz await svctm %util cciss/c0d0 0.00 88.00 0.00 214.00 0.00 40896.00 0.00 19.97 191.10 513.17 4736.82 4.67 100.00 avg-cpu: %user %nice %system %iowait %idle 0.00 0.00 0.00 100.00 0.00 Device: rrqm/s wrqm/s r/s w/s rsec/s wsec/s rMB/s wMB/s avgrq-sz avgqu-sz await svctm %util cciss/c0d0 0.00 0.00 0.00 107.00 0.00 32384.00 0.00 15.81 302.65 329.61 5116.19 9.35 100.00 I'm sure it isn't a raid issue because readin&writin directly to the filesystem i have 300+ mb sustained with very low iowait/await/svctime values. Additionaly, changin processor back to old P4 solves the problem... no iowait, syncin drbd up to 200 mb/sec Anyone out there usin drbd with dual/quad core processors? Any help will be very very appreciated... -- so long and thank for all the fish --matteo > On Wed, Nov 07, 2007 at 10:10:52AM +0100, Matteo wrote: >> HI all folks, >> >> anyone tried 8.2.1 with kernel 2.6.24-rc1? >> i got a kernel oops while starting drbd: > > we are tracking upstream, there are some changes necessary. > there will be a suitable drbd release soon after 2.6.24 is out. > > though, for now, you just have to "stay tuned". sorry. > > -- > : Lars Ellenberg http://www.linbit.com : : > DRBD/HA support and consulting sales at linbit.com : : > LINBIT Information Technologies GmbH Tel +43-1-8178292-0 : : > Vivenotgasse 48, A-1120 Vienna/Europe Fax +43-1-8178292-82 : __ > please use the "List-Reply" function of your email client. > _______________________________________________ > drbd-user mailing list > drbd-user at lists.linbit.com > http://lists.linbit.com/mailman/listinfo/drbd-user
