I've run each test 10 times consecutively. The 10 results are equivalent for each test. The partitions used for the tests are empty. I don't understand very well your question about cache. I use IDE disks with write cache enabled (with hdparm). Here is the command line of bonnie++ : bonnie++ -b -s 3g I use "-b" option for "fsync() after every write".
