Gigabit Ethernet Controller (use sky2 kernel drivers)/ for test - try pinging other node from first over needed interface with large packets as: #ping 10.0.2.1 -s 65000 if it's successful - then you have not same problem if not - then chek never drivers for your nic /mine problem gone in kernel 2.6.17...
