it does load without complaints.

looks good so far:

cat /proc/drbd
version: 0.7-pre8 (api:74/proto:72)

 0: cs:Unconfigured
 1: cs:Unconfigured

still the error persists:

drbdsetup /dev/nb0 disk /dev/ida/c0d0p2

leads to:
 disk lower_dev meta_data_dev meta_data_index [{--size|-d} val]
         [{--on-io-error|-e} val]
Not enough arguments.

opposing the docs he wants more arguments. any clue?

It seems not:

/lib/modules/2.6.5-7.97-default/extra/drbd.ko

Does the module load? What are in the logs?
