Thanks - have seen that site, but not knowing heartbeat resources config.
very well I didn't know how to read the resource lines in haresources
properly (have since worked that out).

ok, so do you mean set the network interface that DRBD uses up via the
distro. scripts and then assign *only* the virtual IP address via heartbeat?
Since the IP addresses of the interfaces DRBD uses need to be hard-coded in
drbd.conf I guessed I should set these manually (ie. via the distro.
scripts).

Does that sound right?
