you do not want to do that.  even I myself have stopped doing that, and
I've been the one introducing it...

for testing purposes you want to use UML (user mode linux virtual
machines). for all other purposes, it just does not make any sense
to mirror a block device on one node via its loopback network device to 
an other block device on the same node... use software raid (dm/md).
