I have a two node hearbeat based cluster that was running drbd 0.7.6, and kernel 2.4.21-20.ELsmp. I installed an updated kernel from RH (RH EL 3) which is now 2.4.21-27.0.2.ELsmp and had to recompile drbd anyway, so I figured I'd upgrade drbd while I was at it. (I was presuming I could upgrade 0.7.6 to 0.7.10 while the other node kept running 0.7.6) I built drbd and installed it. The first time I inserted the module I did it by hand and then did an init.d/drbd start. It failed because the minor number limit was at the default of 2 so drbd2 couldn't be accessed (since it is minor number 3, (or dev 147,2)). I fixed that by starting things the right way, but now drbd2 never handshakes with the other server. Only drbd0 and drbd1. drbd2 is a 46GB filesystem that has changed quite a bit over the last hour so I would hate to have to force the local drbd2 to be primary and loose the FS changes. How can I fix this? Below are the messages entries for drbd after a clean reboot of the newly compiled drbd system: [root at xnet2 log]# grep drbd messages | grep 12:47 Apr 20 12:47:44 xnet2 drbd: Starting DRBD resources: Apr 20 12:47:44 xnet2 kernel: drbd: initialised.
