yes, with drbd-0.6 you can use the sync source during synchronization.
which is explicitly stated in that article. which btw can be found in the
documentation directory of the drbd cvs/tgz, too.

with drbd-0.7 you can even use the sync-target during synchronization,
but this is not recommended, since it is much less robust wrt network
hickups...
