Yes, I have a working LVM2 environment as it has been configured and setup during installation using the drakX tool. > In principle yes, just make clearly sure, that there are really no important > data on the partitions you want to setup drbd on. Drbd will overwrite the > first 128MB, which might not so good for important stuff... ;-) Since this is a fresh Mandrake Linux 10.1 Official install, three are no important files yet on the servers except for the files in the following volumes: /dev/mapper/lvm-usr on /usr type reiserfs (rw,notail) /dev/mapper/lvm-var on /var type reiserfs (rw,nodev, notail) But I think the only volume that I really need to mirror is the "/dev/mapper/lvm-home on /home" because as far as I know among the 4 volumes I created, it's the volume that is needed and always changes it's files because it contains users' personal files. Please advice me on this matter if I also need to mirror the following volumes: /dev/mapper/lvm-tmp on /tmp type reiserfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev, notail) /dev/mapper/lvm-usr on /usr type reiserfs (rw,notail) /dev/mapper/lvm-var on /var type reiserfs (rw,nodev, notail) By the way, I'm planning to export the "/dev/mapper/lvm-home on /home" volume via NFS with DRBD support because as I've said earlier, it contains the users' personal files. Any advice on this? > Well, we don't use lvm, but if you put drbd on top of lvm, you can just > replace all the /dev/sdc{X} lines with /dev/lvm/... As far as I understand now, DRBD on top of LVM2 will be my setup. Yes, I'll try that. Lastly, do I need to mirror my /dev/hda3 partition which is actually my / partition? Also, when do I need to add "resources" in my /etc/drbd.conf file? Does one "resource" equals to one partition/volume to mirror? > Hope it helpes, It really helps. Thank you very much Bernd! :) GNUbie
