Doesn't SuSE wear the same Red Hat as Mandrake, Turbolinux etc.? ;)

Aha, Slackware has "iproute2" package in 'extras' collection, and there
is /sbin/ip inside.  I still don't think that it's appropriate to rely
on the presence of this command...
