Since there is not yet drbd userspace tools > 8.4.3 available in Gentoo<br>
portage, we wonder if it could be possible to use:<br>
- a more recent kernel (3.18.x) that will bring an in kernel DRBD 8.4.5<br>
- with the same userspace drbd tools 8.4.3 version<br>

On a test host with a recent 3.19.x kernel, /proc/drbd exposed the same<br>
API:<br>
version: 8.4.5 (api:1/proto:86-101)<br>
<br>
So I think kernel upgrade is possible. Is DRBD API the only important<br>
version to check for drbd kernel/userspace part compatibility ?<br>
<br>
We plan to do an upgrade using this path:<br>
- evacuate VM from node to upgrade<br>
- remove note to upgrade from cluster (so stop DRBD sync on secondary<br>
devices)<br>
- update kernel on node to upgrade with new DRBD 8.4.5<br>
- re-add the upgraded node in the cluster and so let drbd synchonize:<br>
- from primary devices on 8.4.3 kernel host<br>
- to secondary devices on 8.4.5 kernel host<br>
<br>
Is this path correct ?<br>
Any advices about such an upgrade ?<br>
