[DRBD-user] "PingAck did not arrive in time" when discarding LVM snapshots

Note: "permalinks" may not be as permanent as we would like,
direct links of old sources may well be a few messages off.

Hi,

we currently experience periodic disconnects/reconnects of DRBD
volumes with the message "PingAck did not arrive in time"
when LVM snapshots of significant size are discarded. It does
not happen every time and with every resource, but let's say
in about 1 out of 6 snapshot discards.

We do not observe link-losses or packet losses on the 10GBit/s
link used for the DRBD resources.

I suspect that something that happenes during the LVM snapshot
discarding keeps DRBD from processing the pings in time.

I have now changed the ping-timeout to 5 seconds (instead
of 0.5 seconds) and if that should fix the issue, I'm fine
with that.

(The involved machines run linux-3.14.1)

Regards,
