What is your speed to the raw disk without DRBD? I just found that 
upgrading the firmware on my 3Ware 9650SX cards caused my DRBD write speed 
to jump from 57 MB/s to 224 MB/s* only about 10% hit from RAW.

*over 10 Gb/s Infiniband IPoIB.
