David,

first of all, since you _are_ building from source after all, is there a 
particular reason as to why you are using an outdated version, instead of 
8.0.8?

And, can you please give

- your /proc/drbd output (from both nodes) immediately after you've done 
modprobe drbd and drbdadm up all;
- your drbd.conf, with comments and empty lines stripped?
