hdparm -t /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
 Timing buffered disk reads:  246 MB in  3.01 seconds =  81.68 MB/sec

and hdparm -T /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
 Timing cached reads:   3140 MB in  2.00 seconds = 1570.25 MB/sec
